Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday is coming soon: August 7-9

Virginians will be able to take advantage of a sales tax holiday on important items for home and school for three days over the weekend of August 7th. During the sales tax holiday period, consumers can purchase qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star and WaterSense products without paying sales tax. Some retailers choose to offer additional merchandise that is not technically tax-exempt at a reduced “tax-free” price during the time period. Hurricane and emergency preparedness items include generators, flashlights, cell phone chargers and first aid kits. Tax-exempt energy efficient items include Energy Star air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators, and light bulbs. Remind your neighbors of the opportunity to save and make a list of items for your own home – take advantage of Virginia’s special tax-free weekend August 7th through 9th.

Detailed information on the Sales Tax Holiday and allowable items can be found online.
